PIVOTAL POINT
With the Canucks ahead 3-1 in the second period and looking comfortable, Cory Schneider spilled a harmless Trevor Daley shot that Cody Eakin was able to slice home at the 17:50 mark, making it 3-2 and giving the Stars big life. They completed their comeback in the third.
BY THE NUMBERS
Friday’s game marked the first time in eight games and just the third time this season the Canucks surrendered three or more goals in a game. Cory Schneider has been between the pipes for all three … It was also the third time the Canucks have lost when leading after two periods … The loss ended the Canucks’ six-game win streak.
FIGHT CLUB
The Canucks’ entire fourth line of Aaron Volpatti, Max Lapierre and Dale Weise finished the second period in the dressing room as all were sent off with fighting majors, going back-to-back-to-back three seconds apart. Volpatti went with former Brown University teammate Ryan Garbutt at 15:09, followed by Lapierre at 15:10 (Vern Fiddler) and Dale Weise at 15:12 (Eric Nystrom).

In the first period, Canucks attempted 19 shots on the Dallas net. Six were blocked, five missed. The Stars attempted only six, had two misses and one goal. In the second, it was a different story as the Stars flung 28 shots toward Cory Schneider with 18 reaching him. By game’s end, the Stars had 47 attempts while the Canucks had 50.
ROME PUNKED
Dallas blue-liner Aaron Rome, who played three seasons for the Canucks and left in the summer as a free agent, was greeted with a cute little surprise when he entered Rogers Arena for the Stars’ morning skate Friday. The club’s wall of fame, which lists all the individual award winners throughout team history, had been ‘tampered’ with and Rome’s name appeared at the top of all seven categories, including MVP, most exciting player, best defenceman and top scorer. “It’s all in good fun,” said a blushing Rome. “I had a lot of fun here in the three years I was here. So it’s good.”
IN THE PRESS BOX
The Canucks healthy scratches Friday were Andrew Ebbett, Andrew Alberts and Cam Barker. The Stars were without the injured Ray Whitney (foot) while former Vancouver Giant Tomas Vincour and Tom Wandell were healthy but not dressed.
